•Nasopharyngeal aspirate was a good matrix for rapid test of RSV and flu in children.•The analytical performances of the RDTs were satisfactory on children’s samples.•The RDTs’ sensitivity was even better in comparison to immunofluorescent tests.•The performances of the RDTs were conserved when performed at beside.
