Comparison of hyper- and hypofractionated radiation schemes with IMRT technique in small cell lung cancer: Clinical outcomes and the introduction of extended LQ and TCP models

•Hypo- and hyperfractionated chest radiotherapy of 45 Gy shows similar local control.•New LQRG and TCP models incorporate four “R”s and Gompertzian tumor growth.•The new TCP model better predicts the local progression-free survival in SCLC.
