摘要
Edge computing has a problem of the increasing interaction latency between a server and a mobile node when the mobile node performs a handover. To solve the problem, Follow Me Edges (FMEs), which migrate a server when running in a container between edge nodes connected to the mobile node in order to reduce the physical distance between the mobile node and the server, have emerged. However, FMEs over Wide Area Networks cause service disruptions due to the container downtime during the live migration and handover of mobile nodes. To solve this problem, this paper proposes what is termed the ReSeT System, which reduces the service disruption time so as to align the container downtime with the handover time of the mobile nodes. At this time, the ReSeT System predicts the container migration time and downtime using linear regression models. In addition, the proposed approach is implemented on a testbed, demonstrating that the service disruption time is significantly reduced compared to when the ReSeT System is not used.
