Finding influentials in social networks using evolutionary algorithm.

•evolutionary algorithm provides a good and effective way of finding influential seed sets.•the performance of this method is demonstrated among real world and artificial social networks.•in contrast to some other heuristics evolutionary algorithm does not require to have its parameters fine-tuned for the destination network as results indicate.•due to shorter computation time this algorithm also can be applied to time-evolving online social networks.
