Intradermal post-exposure rabies vaccination with purified Vero cell rabies vaccine: Comparison of a one-week, 4-site regimen versus updated Thai Red Cross regimen in a randomized non-inferiority trial in the Philippines.

•Rabies post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) regimen completion time may affect compliance.•A 1-week 4-site PEP with Verorab ± pERIG was non-inferior to the standard 2-site regimen + pERIG.•Immunogenicity and antibody persistence was higher with the 4- versus the 2-site regimen.•Tenderness/pain adverse reactions were similar between the 4- and 2-site regimens.•These results suggest a valuable role for the 1-week 4-site regimen in rabies PEP.
