Different aspects of platelet evaluation in dengue: measurement of circulating mediators, ability to interact with the virus, the degree of activation and quantification of intraplatelet protein content.

•CD62P, NO and TBX2 ratio in platelet count may be predictors of dengue outcome.•Platelets undergo morphological activation with increase of CD62P in dengue.•Intraplatelet proteins content revealed differential profile based on the severity.•Activated platelets act on angiogenesis, inflammation, coagulation and extracellular matrix.
