Cytological diagnosis of a rare case of alpha-fetoprotein producing gastric-type adenocarcinoma of the uterine cervix.

The fourth edition of the World Health Organization classification recently described two types of cervical adenocarcinoma: usual type and gastric type. These two sets differ with histology, immunostaining, HPV status, and prognosis. The tumor of a gastric-type cervical adenocarcinoma consists of mucinous epithelium invading the endocervical stroma in variably sized, simple, and often angulated cystic glands, with some solid areas and folded papillae.
