摘要

•For the first time the gas sensing application of SHI irradiated epitaxial graphene on SiC is explored.•Surface morphology of irradiated graphene layers showed graphene folding, hillocks, and formation of wrinkles.•Existence of an optimal fluence which maximize the gas sensing response towards NO2 and NH3 gases.
