Microencapsulation of phase change materials with binary cores and calcium carbonate shell for thermal energy storage

•The microcapsules with binary cores and calcium carbonate shell was synthesized via self-assembly method.•The phase change temperature of the microcapsules could be adjusted from 25°C to 50°C.•The thermal conductivity was enhanced due to the CaCO3 shell.•The microcapsules possessed excellent thermal management and temperature regulated properties.
