Inferring weekly primary activity patterns using public transport smart card data and a household travel survey

•Method to identify temporal weekly patterns of activities of public transport users.•Discrete choice models were developed from transit activities in a 1% travel survey.•Extracted activities from transit smart card transactions were classified by type.•The DBSCAN clustering algorithm was applied to find the most common weekly patterns.
