The paper presents novel compact size circular monopole antenna for UWB applications. The antenna of 10 × 13 × 1.6 mm

size achieves vey wideband width from 4.36-13.35GHz with band notch for WLAN at 5-6 GHz. The band notch is achieved by etching symmetrical rectangular spiral slots connected by middle slot in the radiating patch. The single WLAN band notch is split up into upper WLAN (centered at 5.1GHz) and lower WLAN (centered at 5.5GHz) by varying the width of the middle slot. The antenna provides positive gain in the impedance bandwidth except at the 5-6GHz WLAN band notch.
