Local end-wall heat transfer enhancement by jet impingement on a short pin-fin

摘要
•Endwall heat transfer and flow topologies around a short pin-fin subjected to an impingement jet were investigated.•Different endwall flow exist depending on jet-pin-fin spacing and pin-fin relative size.•Short spacing or large diameters cause jets on the endwall radiating from cylinder surface.•Flow field and heat transfer distribution is strictly different to that of horseshoe vortex system.•Longer spacing or smaller pin-fins cause flow and heat transfer distribution to resemble that of horseshoe vortex system.
