Reproductive performance of Octopus maya males conditioned by thermal stress

•High temperatures negatively affect the growth rate and the digestive gland index of male O. maya.•High temperatures induced an increment in haemocytes and a decreased in oxygen consumption.•At histological level, temperature affects the testis organization and provokes inflammatory processes.•High spermatophores production were induced by temperature.•A reduction of the parental contribution was observed when the temperature increased.
