Severity grading of anaphylaxis in cardiac surgical patients

Little is known about the classification and severity grading of patients with anaphylactic reactions in cardiac surgery. We present a 20 year retrospective analysis from Manchester Royal Infirmary with the aim to grade hypersensitivity reactions and to determine if it is safe to proceed or to abandon surgery, since there is presently no guideline or recommendation.
