Local convective condensation heat transfer in horizontal double-layer three-dimensional dimple-grooved tubes

•Effects of mass flux and heat flux on local HTC of two 3D double-layer dimple-grooved tubes are discussed.•Mechanisms of enhanced condensation heat transfer for the new type surfaces are discussed.•Local wall temperature is directly measured and effect of sub-cooling degree on HTC is presented.
