•We discuss the hybrid PLC-wireless channel, combining PLC and wireless systems.•We devise statistical models for important features of hybrid PLC-wireless channel.•Selected features characterize channel behavior in time and frequency domains.•All statistical analyses are based on a practical channel measurement campaign.•Results can better assist the transceiver design for hybrid PLC-wireless systems.
