2017 NCSBN Board of Nursing Website Audit

Introduction Boards of nursing (BONs) use websites to connect with the public. Content and design of BON websites have a direct impact on the efficacy of bi-directional communication. Aim To evaluate BON websites and provide objective feedback. Methods Fifty-five BON websites were evaluated using a tool based on the Website Criteria Checklist and Points System developed by the West Virginia Legislative Auditor (2014). This evaluation focused on the websitesu0027 user-friendliness as well as BONsu0027 transparency. Standard descriptive analyses were performed. Results All websites scored well in providing licensure information and public complaint forms. Few websites offered social media links and audio features. Overall, BON websites offer clear, comprehensive, and transparent information to their users.
