Optimal criterion and global/sub-optimal control schemes of decentralized economical dispatch for AC microgrid

•This study provides a new method of decentralized optimal dispatch.•The criterion of decentralized global optimal dispatch is obtained.•If the system meets this criterion,a decentralized P-f droop method is proposed.•A sub-optimal droop control methods is proposed if the system does not meet it.
