•The EOBD demonstrated direct anti-staphylococcal activity against the standard strain ATCC 25923.•Synergistic effect when associated with Gentamicin, Norfloxacin and Ampicillin against Gram-negative and positive bacteria.•The antibacterial activity of the EOBD is related to sesquiterpenes, hydrocarbonate sesquiterpenes, and monoterpenes.
