Chronic sequelae and severe complications of norovirus infection: A systematic review of literature.

•Chronic norovirus diarrhea is the major sequela among immunocompromised patients.•Chronic norovirus diarrhea is often accompanied by wasting.•More research is needed into the underlying mechanisms, prevention and treatment.•Norovirus should be tested in case of benign infantile convulsions with mild gastroenteritis.•Association between norovirus infection and (exacerbations of) inflammatory bowel disease is unlikely.
