Highly permeable mixed matrix materials comprising ZIF-8 nanoparticles in rubbery amorphous poly(ethylene oxide) for CO 2 capture

•ZIF-8 nanoparticles of ∼150 nm were dispersed in rubbery amorphous poly(ethylene oxide)•Increasing ZIF-8 loading dramatically increases CO2 permeability in the MMMs.•MMMs exhibit superior CO2/N2 and CO2/H2 separation properties.•Lewis-Nielson model satisfactorily describes gas selectivity and underestimates permeability.
