摘要

•Packing size strongly influences hydrodynamics in packed bubble columns.•Depending on DP, packing can disperse bubbles or coalesce them.•For DP < 10 mm, flow physics is dominated by balance of buoyancy & surface tension.•Smallest DP below which coalescence dominates is predicted using Bond number.
