Provenance, weathering conditions, and tectonic evolution history of the Cambrian meta-sediments in the Zhuguangshan area, Cathaysia Block

•The protoliths compositions of the Cambrian strata in Zhuguangshan area are inferred equivalent to andesite to granodiorite.•K-metasomatism of the Cambrian strata in the studied area is dominated by the conversion of aluminous clay minerals to illite.•The Cambrian strata in the Zhuguangshan area were deposited in the passive continental margin.
