Variability of Both Raw and Transformed Gene Expression Profile Scores Predict Adverse Events Post Heart Transplant: The Mid America Experience

Gene Expression Profile (GEP) is measured as a Linear Discriminate Algorithm (LDA) based on the activity of 11 informative genes (part of 20-gene panel). The LDA is transformed into an ordinal score (OS) between 0-40. The GEP variability score (GVS) calculated from 4 consecutive LDA scores predicted adverse events in CARGO-II. However, the LDA is not available to the clinician, and utility of the OS variability (OSV) is unknown. We analyzed the ability of GVS and OSV based on 3 consecutive scores to predict IMAGE adverse events beginning at 6 mos post heart transplant (HTx).
