•ZSM-22 synthesized through three methodologies with and without the use of trimethoxyphenylsilane and nano silica beads.•Desilication of the zeolites using NaOH (0.2, 0.4 and 0.6 M) to obtain micro-mesoporous materials.•Silanized samples with better textural properties.
