•Climate change, hydrological and hydraulic model are combined to analyze runoffs.•Four Global Climate Model: BCC, BNU, CanESM and CSIRO are used.•The future design runoffs and water levels increase in Qu River.•Disaster management and infrastructure construction should be paid more attention to.
