摘要
Since modern audio technologies based on object audio rendering are currently not implemented for ARM processors, the motivation for this project included benchmarking the performance of ARM Cortex-A processors for audio processing in comparison to an audio DSP. This paper describes the process of optimizing an audio surround virtualization software library for ARM based processors. The optimization was mainly focused on micro-level optimizations in order to better utilize the ARM NEON processor extension. The final performance increase was on average 18% on the Cortex-A53 and 11% on the Cortex-A7, and the final resource consumption is comparable to that of an audio DSP when considering the base clock speed of each processor.
