Primary intracranial leiomyosarcoma in an immunocompetent patient: Case report and review of the literature

•Primary intracranial leiomyosarcomas are exceedingly rare and are almost never seen in immunocompetent patients.•Sixteen cases of primary leiomyosarcoma occurrence have been reported in the literature.•No standard therapy has been established for treatment of this malignancy.•The longest reported survival to date is 44 months.
