Metabolomic analysis by UAE-GC MS and antioxidant activity of Salvia hispanica (L.) seeds grown under different irrigation regimes

•Chia metabolomics in response to irrigation is reported for the first time.•Chia antioxidant activity in response to irrigation is reported for the first time.•Mutant showed higher seed yield and α-linolenic acid content.•At high latitude yield was improved by irrigation in mutant only.•Irrigation decreased polyphenols and increased α-linolenic acid.
