Thermal and optical characterisation of dynamic shading systems with PCMs through laboratory experimental measurements

•A dynamic shading device is experimentally studied in laboratory.•Several kinds of PCMs with various melting temperatures are integrated in coloured polycarbonate shading panels.•Methodologies for in lab characterisation of PCMs and dynamic shading are discussed.•Thermal and optical characterisation of PCMs and specimens are presented.•A complete set of data characterising the specimens is provided, which can be used as input for energy/daylight simulations.
