Antimicrobial silver (I) complexes derived from aryl-benzothiazoles as turn-on sensors: Syntheses, properties and density functional studies

Two silver (I) complexes of arylbenzothiazoles exhibit steady release of bioactive silver in presence of chloride, which can be tracked through a “turn-on” fluorescence signal emanated due to concomitant deligation of the ligands. TDDFT calculations provide insight into quenching of fluorescence of the ligands upon coordination to silver.
