•Various plant-animal interactions are investigated in patch-dynamic models.•Patch fragmentation and species dispersal traits are considered.•Negative interactions can tolerate more habitat destruction than other interactions.•Counter-intuitively, mutualism displays most vulnerability to habitat destruction.
