Biocompatible and bioadhesive low molecular weight polymers containing long-arm catechol-functionalized methacrylate

•A flexible and long-arm catechol functionalized methacrylate has been synthesised.•The free radical copolymerization reaction is controlled by the catechol nature.•Copolymers are biocompatible and present antioxidant and anti-inflamatory activities.•The bioinspired system possesses a good bone bioadhesive behavior.
