Daily berth planning in a tidal port with channel flow control

•Tidal and channel flow control are considered in berth allocation and quay crane assignment.•An integer programming model is proposed for the problem.•A column generation solution approach is developed on a set partitioning based reformulation•Our simple but practical method can optimally solve the instances with 80 vessels.
