Coexistence Of Twdm-Pon And Multi Rf/If Over Fiber System: Experimental Demonstration

Radio over Fiber (RoF) system is the most used solution to integrate radio and fiber networks. However, these systems have not been explored in the context of coexistence, in which the same feeder fiber is used by several transmission technologies. To meet this gap, we carry out experiments to investigate the impact of TWDM-PON on multi-RF/IF fiber systems for different channel spacing in 20 km of standard single mode fiber (SSMF). The results show that TWDM-PON impacts the RoF systems due to the XPM non-linear effect. In addition, transmission in Intermediate Frequency (IF) minimizes the XPM effect, which is more severe in Reference Frequency (RF) signals.
