Aerosol properties in the upper clouds of Venus from glory observations by the Venus Monitoring Camera (Venus Express mission)

•Phase profiles of Venus clouds are be built from the data of three VMC channels.•The glory phenomenon is used for estimating the properties of cloud particles.•Variations of sizes and refractive index of particles in space and time are analyzed.•An admixture with a high refractive index is often required for cloud droplets.
