Climate and land-use change impact on faecal indicator bacteria in a temperate maritime catchment (the River Conwy, Wales)

•Faecal contamination is a serious threat to human use of water.•The River Conwy in Wales shows high contents of faecal indicator bacteria.•The INCA-Pathogens model was used to assess climate and land-use change impacts.•Faecal contamination is expected to decrease in summer due to climate change.•Land-use management is a key control to reduce pathogen pollution.
