摘要
Background: Early data from the Patient-centered Outcomes Related to Treatment Practices in Peripheral Arterial Disease Investigating Trajectories (PORTRAIT) registry has shown that women have poorer PAD-specific functioning impacting all major health status domains, as compared with men, despite similar PAD severity and independent of socio-economic and clinical background. The aim of our study is to assess changes in health status according to sex after consultation with a vascular specialist for PAD treatment using the Peripheral Artery Questionnaire (PAQ). Methods: PORTRAIT is a multicenter, international prospective study of patients with new or worsening PAD symptoms consulting specialty care between June 2011 and October 2015. Mean PAQ scores were compared at baseline, 3 months, and 6 months follow up among women (n=449) and men (n=747). Continuous variables were compared using Student’s T-test. Multivariable, repeated measures, linear regression models were performed. Results: Similar rates of women and men were referred for surgical (3.3% vs. 4.8%, p=0.26), endovascular (23.8% vs. 24.4%, p=0.84), and supervised exercise therapy (7.2% vs. 6.7%, p=0.75) within 6 months. Unadjusted analysis showed women had greater improvements in PAQ measures from baseline to 6 months (Table). After adjustment, there were minimal absolute differences in mean PAQ scores over 3-6 months follow-up. The summary PAQ score remained statistically higher in men compared to women; however the physical and quality of life domains were similar (Table). PAQ treatment satisfaction scores and EQ5D (Score your health today) were similar in women and men. Conclusion: After PAD consultation, men and women had improved health status. While men had higher health status scores at all time points, women showed greater improvement over time such that there were minimal differences in reported health status measures for men and women over 3-6 months.
