摘要
. Sericulture has been an agro industrial avocation and source of livelihood for the tribal people of Mizoram. Though several extension and demonstration programmes on improved technologies were conducted the gap between the recommended technologies and actual adoption was still very wide. So, to bridge the gap and to plan a suitable intervention strategy, it was necessary to know the knowledge and adoption level of improved sericultural technologies. The present study was undertaken at farmer’s level covering three sericultural villages of Aizawl District of Mizoram to assess the extent of knowledge and adoption of improved sericultural technologies among the sericulture farmers. The farmers were found to adopt silkworm rearing technologies in maximum percentage than mulberry cultivation technologies. High cost of inputs, lack of awareness and tendency for continuing with traditional practices were found to be the cause for non adoption of technologies. However the farmer who adopted the improved technologies could harvest on an average of 56.50 kgs of cocoon per 100 dfls. Therefore adoption of improved sericultural technologies must be ensured for successful harvest and high income.
