Croatian Terminology in Computing and Information Technology

The outgrowth of Croatian terminology was nat always consistent due to uncontrolled translations of new English terms coined during the evolution of the fields of computing and information technology. Even in the field names there exists some controversy. Therefore, the paper introduces Croatian terms and explains the definitions of computer science and engineering, computing, information science, information technology and informatics. Hrvatsko nazivlje u podrucjima racunarstva i informacijske tehnologije vrlo je saroliko zbog nekritickog prihvacanja prijevoda engleskih pojmova. Cak i u nazivima podrucja postoje stanovite nesuglasice. U radu se stoga obrazlažu i opisuju nazivi racunarska znanost i tehnika, racunarstvo, informacijska znanost, informacijska tehnologija i informatika.
