摘要

•The first report on the application of the SSR technique in the evaluation of the genetic relationship in pitaya.•Higher efficiency of the SSRs markers to estimate the levels of genetic variability.•The SSR markers developed in pitaya was easily transferred to other cactaceae species which did not have functional markers.
