•Using CA and SDS can achieve flotation separation of celestite, fluorite and calcite.•Transformation of existing form exists on the minerals surface in the solution.•ΔGm0 is negative for the reaction between fluorite and CA.•CA and SDS are chemisorbed on the minerals surface.
