•Phenolic and antioxidant potential of grape foliage were assayed over four months.•Leaves showed higher phenolics content of analyzed phenolics than stems.•Red cultivars showed often higher antioxidant activity than white cultivars.•Possibility of exploiting vine foliage over summer and early fall was confirmed.
