e12001Background: Endocrine therapy is associated with definite improvements in disease-free survival in hormone receptor-positive breast cancer, but also with many adverse events. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to examine whether newly occurring treatment-related adverse events, including vasomotor symptoms and musculoskeletal symptoms, were associated with outcomes. Methods: EMBASE, Web of Science, PubMed, and the Cochrane library were searched to identify studies that compared treatment efficacy between patients in whom adverse events did and did not occur during hormone therapy. Hazard ratios (HRs) and associated 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) were estimated and pooled using random-effects models.
