Synthesis of Thienotropone-Containing Conjugated Polymers and Their Acid Doping Property

We have designed and synthesized the tropone-containing monomers (TrT and TrTz) and a polymer (PBTr-T), and investigated their optical properties. TrT, TrTz and PBTr-T were utilized as acid sensor materials, based on aromaticity switching by protonation using TFA. The polymer PBTr-T showed good proton dopability due to the protonation directly affects the electronic delocalization of the tropone.
