Hierarchical Model Based Fault Diagnosis System; Application to Binary Distillation Process

This paper presents a hierarchical and modular fault diagnosis system. The model and the rule based approaches are the main methods applied to the system. The application target is a pilot binary distillation process at the Automation and Control Institute of Tampere University of Technology. The focus of the presentation is in the maintainability of the diagnosis systems, software tools and hierarchical structure.
