•Eleven new illudalane sesquiterpenes were isolated from the mushroom Gloeostereum incarnatum BCC41461.•Isolated compounds were evaluated for antimicrobial activity and for cytotoxicity against both cancerous and non-cancerous cells.•Illudalane sesquiterpenes exhibited a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity.
