Performance Comparison Of Two Frequency Offset Acquisition Algorithms

Two typical frequency offset acquisition schemes by measuring the phase difference between two received signals on different samples are proposed in this paper. A new aspect on the problem of how to choose a better method to estimate the frequency offset between two schemes is the key research content. In order to find out how many factors the frequency offset estimation accuracy is determined by, the corresponding comparison through mathematical analysis on signal-to-noise (SNR) ratio is provided. Through mathematical calculation results, it will show how the estimation accuracy is controlled by both the original received signal SNR and its own accumulated frequency offset value. And the result leads to an optimal switching strategy between two schemes that maximize the device's immunity to frequency uncertainties.
