Surface nanostructure and improved microhardness of 40CrNiMo7 steel induced by high current pulsed electron beam treatment

摘要
•Surface modification of 40CrNiMo7 steel was performed by HCPEB treatment.•Surface remelted layer of depth ∼7µm was obtained.•Composite nanostructure of refined austenite and martensite phases was formed.•After 25 HCPEB pulses, average size of small cells on modified surface decreased to ∼120nm.•Surface microhardness was tripled to more than 1000HK.
