Reflections on an intellectual journey: From a system of innovation pioneer

The first academic books that made a major impression on me as a student following courses in political science were contributions on decision making and organisation theory by Simon, March and Cyert (around 1964). When I moved on to study economics I thus already had a sceptical view on the assumptions of rationality. My master thesis was on economics of education (around 1966) - a subject that I have returned to in later years in connection with innovation (Lundvall 2008).
